Paper Plate Dalmatian Dog Craft

Because the dalmatian is white, there's no painting needed for this project making it a great choice for a large group or for preschoolers when you don't want to worry about the mess of paint.
Materials:
- White paper plates (1 per Dalmatian)
- Black and red construction paper
- White, blue, or red construction paper for eyes
- Black marker
- Scissors
- Glue stick or liquid glue
- Optional: You can substitute large wiggly eyes for construction paper eyes.
- Optional FOR MASK: Paint Stir Stick, thin strip of wood or Tongue Depressor.
Instructions:
- Lay the white paper plate flat on your working surface.
- Use a black marker or black paper dots to create the Dalmatian's signature spots all over the paper plate.
- Cut out two floppy ear shapes from black construction paper – half circles work great as ear shapes.
- Glue the ears to the top of the paper plate.
- Cut two circles from white, blue, or red construction paper to serve as the eyes.
- Draw black eyeballs on the construction paper circles using the black marker.
- Glue the eyes onto the paper plate.
- Cut a black construction paper oval for the nose.
- Glue the nose onto the paper plate.
- Use a black marker to draw a mouth under the nose.
- Optional: Cut a rectangle of red construction paper to make a collar and glue it to the bottom of the paper plate.
- Optional: If making a mask, use masking tape or duct tape to attach a thin strip of wood, aTongue Depressor or a Paint Stir Stick (often free at paint supply and home repair stores -- no more than $1 -- we get dad to pick one up now and then when he's at home depot admiring the tools *grin*)
