5:30 - 5:45 Opening Circle and "Mr. Skeleton" game
- play Mr. Skeleton game as kids arrive (similar to doggy, doggy where's your bone)
one girl is Mr. Skeleton and closes her eyes in the center of the circle. As the chant is said, the leader hands the bone to one of the children making sure everyone gets a turn (you can get a plastic doggy bone inexpensively from the pet store). At the end of the chant the girl in the center can open her eyes and gets three guesses as to who has the bone. Irregardless of if the girl gets the answer right, the girl with the bone is the new Mr. Skeleton.
Mr. Skeleton where's your bone,
somebody stole it from your home
Guess who? Maybe you!
Maybe a ghost from Kalamazoo
OK Mr. Skeleton, find your bone!
1) OPENING CIRCLE:
Song:
Let's be friends and share a song.
Let's be friends and dance along.
Hold my hand we'll skip and play.
Let's put sparkle in our day.
Promise:
I promise to share and be a friend.
Sharing Beads:
"Did everyone remember to share and be a friend this week?"
______ (hopefully they say yes).
"Yay!! Here's the bead you've earned for being such terrific Sparks this week"
Crystal:
"Who had Crystal last week?"
"Would you like to share your drawing with us?"Draw the next name and put Crystal with the scrapbook bag of the girl who's to take her home.
2)
- Leader 1 to run Ghostie Pop craft at the round tables with a few coloring pages for girls who are quick.
- Leader 2 and helper moms to take girls one by one as we work on Ghostie Pops and have them make their ghost footprint or spider handprint. (one girl per adult - the kids can pick which they'd rather do)
3) Halloween Fashion show
- little fashion show so the girls can share their costumes with each other... This may not take 10 minutes.
- play music while they dance and prance around the gym showing off their costumes.
4) Treat Bag decorating, treat bag filling, coloring pages, eyes on footprints
- I have orange paper bags. The children can draw on a pumpkin face or glue on black construction paper.
- when ghosts/spiders are dry enough we can add the wiggly eyes
- I have a coloring page and a Halloween riddle coloring page. The girls can glue in their scrapbook and color
- we can talk about safe and polite trick or treating tips and hand out their candy (fill their treat bags)
5) Closing Circle (badges)
- Closing song (tune of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star)
Twinkle twinkle little spark,
Time to go, it's getting dark.
To your pillow, to your bed,
Time to rest your sleepy head.
Twinkle twinkle little spark,
Time to go, it's getting dark.
- hand out Nov. Newsletter
- hand out the halloween badges that they earned for learning safe and polite trick or treating
- I'd also like the girls to hand their scrapbooks in this week. I have a few photos to glue in and will return them the week after next
