Denmark Crafts, Facts, and Activities for Kids
Disclaimer: Please keep in mind this website is meant for children, so I do generalize and simplify quite a bit!
Denmark, a country in the continent of Europe, is a Scandinavian country and has some of the most excellent design and architecture on earth! It is an interesting country for children to study for this reason.

Denmark is primarily a Danish-speaking country. However, approximately 90% of all people in Denmark speak English very well as a second language—as English is taught to Danish children in schools and at home from a very young age. Other languages spoken include German (with approximately 50% of Danes able to speak very well) and French (13%). Denmark has an “officially recognized minority language” called Faroese, a North Germanic language, spoken primarily on the Faroe Islands. Like Greenland, the Faroe Islands are an autonomous territory (meaning they have they are self-governing) of the Kingdom of Denmark.
The Kingdom of Denmark settled the lands of Greenland through violent colonization, but many Inuit languages are spoken by Inuit-language speakers here: Kalaallisut is the most common dialect spoken by Inuit on this land, and Tunumiit and Inuktun are regional dialects spoken.
Denmark is a country located in northern Europe and is made up of the Jutland Peninsula and more than 400 islands in the North Sea. Denmark shares a border with Germany to the south. Denmark is located in the Baltic Sea, North Sea, Kattegat Bay, Kiel Bay, and the Skaggerak Strait—sharing “maritime borders” (meaning borders in the ocean, as demarcated by humans) with Norway, Sweden, Poland, and the UK.
Denmark is a country found in the Northern Hemisphere and the Eastern Hemisphere of the globe. As of 2021, the country is split into 5 political divisions (regions): Region North Jutland (Region Nordjylland), Region Central Jutland (Region Midtjylland), Region South Denmark (Region Syddanmark), Region Zealand (Region Sjælland), and the Capital Region (Region Hovedstaden).
