Not surprisingly, Darren decided to play “done by noon” to start off the trip.  He and his friends always estimate their do-it-yourself projects will be done by noon only to discover themselves still slaving away at supper time * grin *.  Darren figured we could pick up and pack up our RV and be on our way to Jasper by lunchtime.  At around 1:00 Mom decided to step it up a notch and we were off by 3. (Can you hear the whip cracking?)

Needless to say we didn’t make any stops along the way as we had a 4-5 hour drive in store for us that day.  We made it to Whistler’s campground near Jasper, AB (Jasper National Park) after enjoying a scenic drive through Banff National Park and the Ice field Parkway.  Dad sure does love the Rockies! The girls and Dad set up the picnic table, got wood and set up the chairs while mom got our first campfire started – one match!

We enjoyed a wiener and marshmallow roast. Everyone had s’mores (Tasha and Kaitlyn wore almost all of theirs on their faces)

Our only wildlife viewing that day was a chipmunk.  Ruby (the family dog) seemed somewhat confused by the whole adventure but enjoyed sniffing at nature.  It was after 10 pm by the time we finished supper so we just turned in for the night.
