DLTK's Maritime Road Trip
Day 14:
Summerside to West Point
Great Blue Heron
We set out from Summerside on the bright sunny morning and decided to head up to North Cape along the Lighthouse Route instead of taking the main highway. We were surprised when we noticed how many Great Blue Herons were standing in the waters along the route. They stood very still and mom got quite a few photos of them. We even saw one catch a fish.
We arrived at North Cape and enjoyed lunch at the Wind and Reef restaurant there. Then we spent some time taking photos of the lighthouse, the wind farm, the red cliffs, the fishermen raking in seaweed and the lobster traps near by.
The Lighthouse at West Point
We completed our driving tour by following the other coast around to our next destination – The Lighthouse at West Point. Everyone was excited to find out that we would be spending the night at a lighthouse! We settled into our room and explored the museum a bit before heading down for supper.
After supper we spent a long time sifting through all of our photos that we had taken. We all got a lot of good ones. Tasha and Kaitlyn relaxed a bit and enjoyed looking out of their ground level lighthouse windows.
When the museum closed, the lighthouse was quiet and we settled in to sleep for the night.
