DLTK's Maritime Road Trip
Day 16:
Cavendish
Yesterday was extremely windy and a bit chilly and today wasn’t much different. Mom decided to save the beach for Wednesday in the hopes that it would be a bit warmer.
The house from the novel "Anne of Green Gables"
Instead of beaches we visited Green Gables (the house Lucy Maud Montgomery based the story around - it had belonged to her cousins.) We enjoyed the house but we found it a bit crowded and touristy so we bought a picnic lunch and ate it at one of the more out of the way picnic tables.
The food was tasty and everyone enjoyed the special Anne of Green Gables “raspberry cordial” which Kaitlyn kept calling Raspberry Cordellia. The girls played in the big grassy area behind
Green Gables getting lots of grass stains and enjoying the light rain while mom and dad snapped the photos.
After all the fresh air mom felt exhausted so enjoyed an afternoon nap with dad while the girls watched a movie in the room – I think they’re starting to miss TV a bit.
After our nap we headed over to Dayboat restaurant for the best meal that we have had so far. Mom and Dad ordered the tasting menu and offered nibbles of each course to the girls to try. We all enjoyed seeing the restaurant for real after watching it being constructed on “Opening Soon”.
Sunset on the drive home.
We drove home enjoying the sunset on the way. Mom even managed to take some of the best sunset photos she’s ever taken out the window of the truck on the way home!
