Colour Changing Dinosaurs Paper Plate Craft
contributed by Kaitlyn Guenther

It is very hard for us to know what colours dinosaurs were becuase we only know about them from their fossils. But cool fact... scientists can sometimes look at a type of chemical in dinosaur bones to tell what colour the dinosaurs were!
This adorable and interactive craft is very fun to make and very fun to play with afterwards.
Kids can print out the B&W template and choose their favourite dinosaurs for this craft. They can also let their creative side show by painting the coolest and most colourful paper plate!
Materials:
- a variety of colourful paints and paintbrushes (use your imagination and your favourite colours).
- two paper plates,
- brass fasteners,
- scissors,
- glue,
- paper,
- printer
Instructions:
Paint the bottom of one of the paper plates. This will be the dinosaur paper plate so you can make it themed like a dinosaur landscape.
- I painted mine with a grey circle in the middle of a blue sky so it looks like the dinosaurs are walking.
- Paint the bottom of the second paper plate in any way you want. You can get as creative as you want with this part and try some different painting techiques like finger painting and splatter painting!
Print out the template.
- Cut out the pieces. Some of the dinosaurs are much easier to cut out than others and younger children will need assistance.
- Trace the dinosaurs onto the top of your dinosaur landscape paper plate.
- IMPORTANT: Make sure the dinosaurs are not traced in the middle of the paper plate. Those pieces will be cut out later and can't be in the very center of the paper plate, otherwise the two plates won't be able to be attached with the brass fastener.
- Cut out the dinosaurs.
Layer the paper plate so that the cauldron paper plate is on top of the colourful paper plate (with the bottoms up) so that you can see colours through the cut out dinosaurs.
- Connect the two paper plates by sticking a brass paper fastener through the center and folding the two ends over.
Now you can spin the bottom paper plate and as you spin it the dinosaurs will change colours!

- Set page margins to zero if you have trouble fitting the template on one page (FILE, PAGE SETUP or FILE, PRINTER SETUP in most browsers).
