Materials:
- a toilet paper roll,
- a printer,
- something to color with,
- scissors,
- glue,
- paper
Instructions:
- Print out the craft template of choice.
- Color (if using the black and white version of the craft) and cut out the template pieces.
- Cover the Tube: Cut a piece of white construction paper to fit the size of your cardboard tube. Apply glue to the paper and wrap it around the tube. Set aside to dry.
- Create the Comb: Cut out a red comb shape from the provided template or the red construction paper. The comb should have a flat bottom to align with the top of the tube, and curved edges to resemble a rooster's comb.
- Glue the Comb: Apply glue to the flat bottom of the comb and stick it to the top of the cardboard tube. You can glue the comb inside the tube or you can make slits in the tube and slide the comb in.
- Add the Eyes: If you have googly eyes, glue them on the tube below the comb. If you're using construction paper, cut out two white circles and two smaller black circles. Glue the black circles onto the white ones to create eyes, then glue them onto the tube.
- Make the Beak: Cut out a small triangle or diamond shape from the yellow construction paper (or the provided template). Fold the diamond in half to create a beak, and glue it below the eyes.
- Make the red wobble for under the beak. Cut out a heart or oval shape from red construction paper or the provided template. Glue the heart, upside down, under the beak.
- Craft the Wings: Cut out two wing shapes from the white construction paper or the provided template. Glue one on each side of the tube.
- Attach the Feet: Cut out two feet from the yellow construction paper or the provided template. They should look like three-toed feet. Glue them to the bottom inside of the tube so that they stick out.
- Design the Tail: Cut several long, thin, and slightly curved shapes from the colored construction paper or the provided template. These will be the tail feathers. Glue them to the back of the tube, arranging them so they fan out like a rooster's tail.
Templates:
