Happy World Water Day, everyone!
Today, March 22nd, we come together to raise awareness about the value of water and its vital role in sustainable development. This year's theme, "Valuing Water," emphasizes the essential part water plays in our lives and the health of our planet.
At DLTK's Crafts for Kids, we believe in the power of combining education and fun to make a positive impact on the world. In celebration of World Water Day, we've put together a selection of engaging craft ideas to help teach your little ones about the importance of water conservation, while also having a great time.
- DIY Water Filter: Engage your children in a hands-on learning experience about the importance of clean water by creating a homemade water filter. Using a plastic bottle, sand, gravel, and cotton balls, this straightforward craft activity will help kids grasp the concept of water filtration and its significance in providing access to clean water for all.
Origami Paper Boat, Egg Carton Boat or Milk Carton Boat Regatta: Share the excitement of water-based fun with your kids by crafting paper boats and staging a race in a nearby creek, stream, or even your bathtub. This playful activity serves as a reminder of the enjoyment water can bring while emphasizing the need to preserve and protect our water resources.
- Upcycled Water Bottle Planters: Instill the values of sustainability and waste reduction in your kids by crafting upcycled water bottle planters. This eco-friendly activity will demonstrate how reusing and repurposing items can contribute to protecting our planet's precious resources.
Watercolor Masterpieces: Encourage your children to express their creativity and appreciation for water by creating watercolor paintings. This artistic endeavor is an excellent way to teach them about the beauty of water in its many forms, from vast oceans to serene lakes and delicate raindrops.
- Rain Gauge: Construct a simple rain gauge using a clear plastic bottle, ruler, and marker. This educational craft will help children learn about the water cycle and illustrate the importance of measuring rainfall for monitoring weather patterns and planning water usage effectively.

About Leanne:
Wife, mom and the woman behind the scenes of the DLTK's Crafts for Kids websites. The websites are a terrific hobby -- run by (me) Leanne, a mom with two girls as my official craft testers and my husband as my technical support. DLTK are the first initials of each of the people in my family (I'm the L!). Whenever we send out little cards or whatnot, we sign 'love DLTK' ... when I started the website I used the initials. Had I known the website would get actual strangers visiting it, I would have picked a less mysterious name but we're all stuck with it now!
