Everyone knows the classic Dr.  Seuss book Horton Hears a Who!  What a great book to make a movie out of.  A fun loving elephant named Horton, hears a cry for help coming from a speck that floats by in the air.  He decides that he needs to rescue this speck and discovers that there is a little world on it called Whoville.  He attempts to put the spot were it will be out of harms way while he talks and communicates with the Mayor that lives on it.  He runs into trouble when his fellow jungle friends disapprove of his crazy idea of a world on a speck!  The moral of the story is that no matter how big or small things are they still matter.

My husband and I both enjoyed this movie.  It was very humorous thanks to Jim Carey who plays the voice of Horton.  I’m sure we laughed louder then some of the kids in the theatre.  I felt like it was a wholesome childrens' movie that did not have a lot of adult innuendo.  This was a refreshing change from some of the animated movies they have out today.  I would give this movie a 5 out of 5 and recommend it to all age groups.

  • in the theatre with your family,
  • in the theatre with your friends
  • on DvD  (at home on the DVD, with Mom)

Questions Damon Answered After Watching the Movie:

Was the movie as good as you thought it would be?

Yes, I like the book so I knew the movie would be good.

Would you talk with your friends about it?

Yes, I’m going to tell them to see it because Horton sings and dances.  At the end and I really laughed at that part.

Did you learn anything from it?

However big or small a person or thing is, they still matter.

Questions Andrew Answered After Watching the Movie:

Was the movie as good as you thought it would be?

What movie!! Oh, it was really funny.

Would you talk with your friends about it?

I’m going to tell my friend to go to it because it was really funny.  But when the elephant lost his dandelion flower he cried and that was sad.  I liked the Ice
Age (preview) better.

Did you learn anything from it?

I don’t think so, but I learned to be good at the theatre.
