Paper Plate Cat Craft
Purr-fect Fun with our Cat Paper Plate Craft
Hello, crafty companions! Today, we're bringing the charm and playfulness of one of our favorite household pets to the crafting table - the Cat! With their soft fur, endearing purrs, and independent spirit, cats capture the hearts of kids and adults alike. Their distinct features and varied colors make them an exciting choice for our next crafting project.
So, let's roll up our sleeves, gather our craft supplies, and jump into creating our Cat Paper Plate Craft!
Materials:
- 1 paper plate
- Optional: Acrylic paint in your choice of cat color
- Paintbrush
- Black or grey construction paper
- White construction paper
- Pink construction paper (optional)
- Black marker
- Scissors
- Glue
- Optional: You can substitute large wiggly eyes for construction paper eyes.
Instructions:
- You can leave your paper plate unpainted and make a white cat. This makes for a less messy project perfect for preschoolers or large groups.
- If using paint, begin by painting your paper plate with the acrylic paint color of your choice. This color will be the fur color of your cat. Let the paint dry completely.
- While the paint is drying, cut out two triangle shapes from your chosen construction paper. These will serve as your cat's ears. If you'd like, cut out smaller pink triangles and glue them to the center of the black triangles to give a realistic touch.
- Once the paint on the paper plate is dry, glue the ears to the top of the plate.
- For the eyes, cut out two circles from the white construction paper. Draw eyeballs on them using the white marker, then attach them to your cat below the ears or you can use googly eyes.
- Using your marker, draw a small triangular nose between the eyes and a little below them.
- Now it's time for the most defining feature of a cat: the whiskers. Instead of drawing them, let's make them stand out! Cut out six long rectangular strips from black or grey construction paper. Glue three of these strips on each side of the nose.
And there you have it, your very own adorable Cat Paper Plate Craft!
