The Story of the Trojan Horse

written by Leanne Guenther -- based on Greek mythology

Trojan Horse Paper CraftLong ago, there was a great war between the city of Troy and the Greeks. The war had been going on for many years, and neither side was winning.

The Greeks came up with a clever plan to trick the Trojans. They built a giant wooden horse, big enough for many soldiers to hide inside.

Then, they left the horse outside the gates of Troy and pretended to sail away. The Trojans were curious about the horse and wondered why the Greeks had left it there. Some of the Trojans wanted to burn the horse, but others thought it would be a good idea to bring it inside the city as a trophy of war.

The Trojans pulled the horse inside the city and celebrated their victory. But little did they know, the Greeks had left a surprise inside the horse. When night fell, the soldiers hidden inside the horse climbed out and opened the city gates. The Greek army, which had sailed back in secret, rushed in and easily defeated the unsuspecting Trojans.

And that is how the Greeks won the Trojan War, with the help of a clever trick and a giant wooden horse.
