The Legend of the Pineapple
Once upon a time, in a small, colorful village in the Philippines, there was a kind girl named Pina. Everyone in the village loved Pina because she was nice to everyone, listened to her parents, and always helped when someone needed it.
But then, Pina started to change. She began to ignore her mom's calls, paying more attention to her games. When her mom asked her to help with chores, like getting water from the well or preparing dinner, Pina pretended not to hear.
This made the villagers sad. They missed the helpful and respectful Pina they knew. Her mom was especially sad to see her little girl change so much.
One morning, Pina's mom couldn't find Pina anywhere. She looked inside their house, around the village, and in the fields, but Pina was nowhere to be found. Just when she was about to give up, she noticed something strange in the backyard.
There, where Pina loved to play, was a plant she had never seen before. The plant had a big, round fruit in the middle, surrounded by long, sharp leaves. The fruit had a rough skin with lots of tiny, eye-like spots.
When Pina's mom saw the fruit, she felt very sad. Each little eye on the fruit seemed to be looking at her, as if it was sorry. The villagers felt sad, too, when they saw the fruit. They named it 'pineapple,' to remember the sweet girl they had once loved so much.
And that's how the legend of the pineapple was born. It reminds all the children in the village to respect their elders and be helpful, just like Pina used to be. Every time they see a pineapple, with its sweet taste and many 'eyes,' they remember Pina's story. It's a symbol of change, and the importance of listening to your parents and helping others.
