With a choice of leaf, football or apple templates, the autumn lacing project provides options that most young children will enjoy.  Lacing is great for hand-eye coordination and is a fun challenge for preschoolers and kindergarten children learning to tie knots or bows.

One viewer added to the project by encouraging her grade 2 class to print an acrostic poem in the center of the Apple after they had laced it.  (An acrostic poem is the type where the first letter of each line of the poem spells a word.  In this case, she used APPLE -- you could also uses FALL or AUTUMN.
