What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong is one of those songs that stirs my emotions and paints pictures in my head whenever I hear it. The tempo of the music is relaxing enough to help settle children down to a calm crafting session. The lyrics of the music are clear enough to make up what is being said the first time you hear it.
You can read the lyrics to the children before the session if you like, but I just like to play it. It's also been redone a number of times -- the Israel Kamakawiwo'ole version is the most recent -- it's combined with Somewhere Over the Rainbow which is also a nice song to color along to. You can play the different versions for the kids and talk about which they like best.
