Carboard Ukulele
Kaitlyn plays Ukulele really well. One of our nieces do too! And Darren is learning to play guitar (you're never too old!)
I'm really hoping for a Zoom jam session of "Wagon Wheel"(*grin*).
Darren's pretty shy about his musical ability so we're all going to have to work on him a little. I think we might be able to get him to play our cardboard ukulele in public before we get him to play his guitar. The great thing is you always get the chords right!
Materials
- Paint colour(s) of your choice
- 1 tissue box
- 4 large rubber bands
- 10 pom-poms (for decoration)
- 1 paper towel roll
- Scissors
- White liquid glue/hot glue gun
(only use hot glue with supervision or permission from an adult)
- 3 popsicle sticks
- 3 pipe cleaners (for decoration)
Instructions:
First, take your tissue box and glue your popsicle sticks inside so the box is stronger.
Next, cut the hole the shape you want.
Next, paint your box and paper towel role any colour with any design that you want.
(This step is optional.)
Now, take your popsicle sticks and cut them so the fit, glue two together like the picture and glue them on the box. Do this on the top and bottom of the box.
Next, take your paper towel roll, once painted, use a pencil or scissors to poke a hole in the cardboard. Then, take your pipe cleaners and put them through the hole and twist them to make a circle. Remember to be careful when poking the holes and ask an adult for help if needed.
Then, wrap the four rubber bands around the box, making it look like the ukulele strings, and use your pom-poms and put them between each string so they don’t move.
Lastly, cut you paper towel role to look like the picture and glue it to the top of the tissue box securing the rubber bands under it.
- Add any other decoration or details you want, and here is your finished product! Have fun making some music!
