Paul Bunyan or Lumberjack Toilet Paper Roll Craft

Children can make this as a Paul Bunyan craft, the woodcutter from Little Red Ridinghood or a generic lumberjack.

Paul Bunyan was a giant lumberjack from American folktales (he wasn't a real person). His best friend was a blue ox named Babe. Together they wandered around the American wilderness cheerfully performing superhuman feats.

Imagine being an American pioneer working long hours at the logging camp -- there's no television, no computers, no radios -- not that much to do. So, it becomes a fun game to make up tall tales about Paul Bunyan's antics and share them with your lumberjack buddies! According to the stories told by these early settlers, Paul and Babe dug lakes, straightened out rivers and moved mountains -- all with a pleasant smile and an "ordinary guy" attitude.

Materials:

toilet paper roll or cardboard tube,
scissors,
glue,
paper,
a printer

Instructions:

Print out the craft template of choice.
Color (if using the black and white version of the craft) and cut out the template pieces. The large rectangle should be light brown, green, grey or blue pants and a red lumberjack shirt but you can let the kids be creative with it!
Glue the large rectangular piece on first to cover the toilet paper roll.
Glue the belt with the suspenders around the center of the toilet paper roll.
Glue the lumberjack cap on the head.
Glue the arms on the sides of the toilet paper roll (Kaitlyn bent the shoulders a little so the arms stuck out more.).
Glue the head on the tube.
Glue the ax into one of the hands.
Glue the boots on the front of the tube.
