Kaitlyn's byline photoAbout Kaitlyn:

I am Kaitlyn, the K in DLTK, and I've been working for the family website since I could hold a crayon. Now I am all grown up and I live with my partner, Callum, and our adorable cat, Juicebox!  When I'm not helping my parents on the site, I am studying psychology at the University of Calgary.  I love my work and my studies, but when I can I love to head out to the mountains and enjoy the outdoors! You can connect with me on Facebook or Instagram. You can also follow my cute kitty, Juicebox, on Instagram.

Winter Wonderland Decorating: Christmas Tree

Just like many others, I switched to working entirely from home back in March and it has been a little bit of an adjustment learning how to enjoy spending the whole day in one space. I love my apartment and put a lot of work into making it all comfy-cozy when I first moved in! Nonetheless, as soon as we got our first snowfall [...]

Grow Tall Little Plant
POSTED ON April 22, 2020 BY KAITLYN

Grow Tall Little Plant Calenthea.

This year I decided to try my hand at plant parenting and, while there were some ups and downs, I feel like it was a success! I was pretty nervous to commit to raising house plants because when I was eighteen I bought a bonsai tree and it did NOT go well...

Rocky view from the trail of Mount Lady MacDonald near Canmore, AB.

I am a massive fan of spending time in the outdoors! My partner and I try to go for at least one dayhike or backpacking trip per weekend in the summer. There are a lot of reasons we love hiking:

– spending time together helps us feel more connected

– exploring the outdoors helps us appreciate and respect the world that we live on...

Now that I am all grown up (a whopping 21 years old!) I am still helping out with site, but I do a lot more than painting paper plates and coloring nowadays [...]

My Favourite Dips

I think if I were to tally up all of my different cravings pizza would have the largest column. It is a constant effort to stop myself from walking over to the nearest pizza shop and buying a pizza loaded with cheese and sauce! I remember once when I was a child my mom made cauliflower pizza, which […]

Today I found out the zucchinis are actually a type of squash... a summer squash! I also found out the zucchinis are AMAZING! This journey of enlightenment all started the other day when I went to read in a coffee shop; there was a particularily delicious looking cake made out of (you guessed it!) zucchini! I thought I would […]

Sweet Potato Brownies

I am in love with anything sweet and delicious and sometimes it feels impossible to stop myself from eating chocolate. Luckily my mom had a very clever rule when I was growing up... no baked goods in the house unless they were homemade. That way I would have to put in the effort to bake any cookies or brownies before […]

Butternut Squash Mac n' Cheese

I am an absolute sucker for anything with melted cheese. When I was a little girl my family would go to Red Lobster for dinner every once in a while. Anyone who has been there knows that the kids menu at Red Lobster is by far the best food selection at any restaurant. And best of all? The CHEESE pizza! I loved that melted, cheesy goodness so much […]
